Aircraft Maintenance Engineering College - AME College in Delhi

The IIA group (Aircraft Maintenance Engineering College) AME (Aircraft Maintenance Engineering) programme is now CAR-147(BASIC) compliant. The DGCA Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India, has approved the institute for AME licence category B1.1, which covers heavy aircraft and turbine engines (Mechanical stream), and category B2, which covers aircraft electrical instrumentation and aircraft communication and navigation systems (Avionics stream).

For the issuance of a B1.1 or B2 AME licence, one must complete a DGCA-approved training programme that is compliant with CAR 147 (Basic) and lasts two years. During these two years of academic study, you will receive 2400 hours of theoretical and practical learning, as well as 360 hours of practical on-the-job training on any CAR 145 recognised flying organisation.

By receiving an AME B1.1 or B2 licence, the bearer of these licences is authorised to carry out the following tasks:

  • The minor inspection (Line Maintenance)

  • Maintenance and repair of different parts of an aircraft (major maintenance).

Two parts make up the four-year programme:

  • Academic curriculum approved under CAR-147 (Basic): 2 years

  • 2 years of practical maintenance experience on a flying aircraft is required.

Academic Program Approved Under CAR-147 (Basic)

Both the B1.1 and B2 streams have a two-year academic curriculum separated into four semesters with a total of 2400 hours of theoretical and practical instruction. 1440 hours of classroom teaching and 960 hours of practical training will be allocated to the 2400 hours of training. Practical training will be conducted with AMO for 360 hours out of 960 hours of practical instruction (Aircraft Maintenance Organization). For this, the IIA group has signed a long-term legal agreement with M/S SAURYA AERONAUTICS PVT.LTD., New Delhi, to provide all of the practical training required for the CAR-147(Basic) programme on flying aircraft.
